Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

help with jellyfish animation

Hello! I've been following this tutorial: https://www.blackorb.com/3dtutorials/jellyfish.pdf

I can't parent the squash deformer with the jellyfish node, so it doesn't follow the jellyfish when it begins to move.

Tutorial says: Window → Hypergraph... MMB drag/drop the squash1Handle node onto the jellyfish node
I've tried to do this but obviously I'm not doing it right, it'd be great if someone could explain!

Thanks!

its basically a short cut to parenting the deformer to the group node called jellyfish. Try selecting the squash node then shift select the jellyfish node and hit P to parent it to the group. Its the same as middle mousing over it. I just did both and it works fine for me

In the settings for the deformer, make sure all the settings are at default in case some is amiss as maya can be a bit strange sometimes.

hope this helps
