Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

No Edge-Loop after Bevel

Hello,

iam absolute new in Maya. I tried to modeling with Polygons. At a cube i beveled the two top edges. After that i wanted to bring in an edge-Loop, but thats not possible. I dont`t understand why. I have attached a pic who is to see what happens when i try to edgeloop after Bevel.

This might be because of the n-gon (because of the bevelling you have more than 4 edges (sides) at this face) which may prevent the proper edge-looping.
You still will be able to do it manual with cut-faces commands.

Ah ok, thank you very much. that was the problem. After i connected the single edge on the top. the edge-loop was possible.
