Shaded issue

I've this arc some part of thr arc is not shaded why? check picture

Some times maya will not assign a shader to some faces, just select the object or faces and re-assign the shader..................dave

possibly the clipping planes? far or near ones?

Hi as far as i know i'm not using any clipping planes....
