Accurate splitting of edges/faces

Hi guys. Is there a way to split a face right smack in the middle, imean spliting the face equally? Something like inserting isoparms with the between selections option turned on? It's easier to model sometimes when you know you're spliting the polygons equally.

Thanks in advance.

Polygon Split tool

go to the options have 1 snapping point and turn up the snapping tolerance.

1 snapping point = half way

2 snapping points = in thirds

and so on

Thanks! Worked like a charm! Since we're talking polys and you seem to know poly modeling, is there an equivalent in MAYA to Lightwave's BUZZSAW command? It cuts a model all the way around automatically. Is there a similar command or setting in MAYA or do I have to split the faces manually?

4.5 has a new feature called Cut Faces Tool that makes a split through the entire model. You could then select all the faces on one side of the "split" and Edit Polygons > Extract.

About the "cut faces tool";

Holding shift down just before or after pressing and holding LMB to cut, makes the tool go axial constrained!
