Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
anyone know of a good tut to get that 'stained' glass effect, ya know, like the picture in the installation window of mental 1.5.1,
tried as i have to get that effect i just can't figure it out, i've tried shining a spotlight/area/directional through the glass with caustics and final gather on, and i also made the lights emit photons, but no joy
Or probably you can change the photon emission behaviour by mapping photons to attributes in mental ray section of material's shading group nodes. There several tutorials to check how it works. www.maya3d.dk is best place to start.
