blendshapes only on part of the model?

is it possible to define a blendshape only on some verts of a poly model? or does it not matter as maya saves the changes intelligent only for the different verts?

Hi,

Yes, you could try using blendshape. Then use the Deform>edit membership tool to tell Maya to only evaluate the vertices that blend.
