Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

New table/scene

Well ive decided to star a scene to test some renders with mynewly aquired Maya 4.5 user added image Ive got Mental Ray and am sill learning how to use it. Ive made a very detailed model of my computer desk, I even modelled the screw thingys that hold on the keyboard tray user added image How do ya'll like it then? I'll make a room and TRY and make some decent textures and shaders user added image

heres a close up of the brackets and tray slide. Ive gone into a lot of detail.Cant wait to get some textures on it and get a scene done.Anyone know of any good pine wood textures? Here ya go..and just to annoy everyone..... :banana:

Hmm, read up on some of Nem's posts and thought I'd try some 3-point lighting setups.Its amazing what 3 lights can do to your renders!This is prob the best render Ive ever produced user added image C+C are very welcome user added image

Thanks a lot guys user added image I omly learnt that lighting tonight user added image Well its almost 1:30 am and I need some sleep.I modelled my table lamp and put in a spotlight.I think it looks ok,I'll do some tweeking tomorrow probably.Please tell me what you think, modelling and lighting....I need sleepuser added image Here ya go :

hey, Ive now done the montior, quite quickly, took around 5 mins. Ive also very quickly added in the walls.I'll try and get some photos od my room up so you guys can compare.Need to tidy it a bit though :p Please tell me what you think, of the modelling/lighting. user added image

looks good...
u might want to add some detail on the monitor ( like buttons)

oh and the base of the lamp seems a bit too big in proportion to the rest of it ..but maybe that how your lamp really looks like...

update, lighting isnt very good user added image there is something wrong with the lighting on the cupboard but it has since been fixed, too lazy to re-render user added image

that problem on the wardrobe is something I have experience before too. Are you using a directional light? if so you need to play with the DMap resolution, Dmap Filter Size and dmap bias to get rid of those artifacts in the renders. I had a horrible time with fixing this in my last WIP but change a value then see how it looks and keep changin gtill it looks right
