Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.
Well ive decided to star a scene to test some renders with mynewly aquired Maya 4.5 Ive got Mental Ray and am sill learning how to use it. Ive made a very detailed model of my computer desk, I even modelled the screw thingys that hold on the keyboard tray How do ya'll like it then? I'll make a room and TRY and make some decent textures and shaders
heres a close up of the brackets and tray slide. Ive gone into a lot of detail.Cant wait to get some textures on it and get a scene done.Anyone know of any good pine wood textures? Here ya go..and just to annoy everyone.....
Hmm, read up on some of Nem's posts and thought I'd try some 3-point lighting setups. Its amazing what 3 lights can do to your renders! This is prob the best render Ive ever produced C+C are very welcome
Thanks a lot guys I omly learnt that lighting tonight Well its almost 1:30 am and I need some sleep.I modelled my table lamp and put in a spotlight.I think it looks ok,I'll do some tweeking tomorrow probably. Please tell me what you think, modelling and lighting....I need sleep Here ya go :
hey, Ive now done the montior, quite quickly, took around 5 mins. Ive also very quickly added in the walls.I'll try and get some photos od my room up so you guys can compare.Need to tidy it a bit though :p Please tell me what you think, of the modelling/lighting.
that problem on the wardrobe is something I have experience before too. Are you using a directional light? if so you need to play with the DMap resolution, Dmap Filter Size and dmap bias to get rid of those artifacts in the renders. I had a horrible time with fixing this in my last WIP but change a value then see how it looks and keep changin gtill it looks right
