This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Animation Contest

I know this has been brought up by me before and the Board are thinking about it but I was wondering if there has been any more progress on this front?

Most, forgive me if I am wrong, of the lads aand lasses on this site are into modelling and texturing it seems there don't seem to be too much animation.

Only looking for things like walk cycle, run cycle, throwing a head... (?) Little things like that, I'll rig and make the model to use if ya like?

I will look into this again mate.... I was going to have one before but I am strugling with the amount of workload I have at the moment to over see it... and If someone starts running it then drops out, then it leaves me in the crap.

So if I cant fit it in myself, then Im afraid it wont be done user added image

Why can't one of the moderators run it? Or is it because you have control over the webpages and there design and layout?

Well the biggest reason is most of the mods are pretty busy with jobs/work......

Originally, I was going to run an animation contest, but due to time constraints, I wasn't able to put in any time on it. I did get a start on a mini-battle between Gcastro and Adldesigner, but again, time and availability was a problem. I already have a flour sack rigged and ready to go for animation. You can see it here:

If people are up for it, I can run an animation challenge or two this summer. We can use my flour sack or people can use their own characters. I have a bunch of ideas for short animations that people can do for these challenges that should keep thing interesting for quite some time.
