most probably the curves are differant direction. you can correct that in curves menu.

Is there a way to see the direction of a curve?

sure, just look at it's CVs and you'll know...

wherever it started witht a U then that's the beginning... (it looks like a U...not really a CV)

Huh. When I draw a curve and show CVs I do see the beginning but it's not a U, more of a square.

However if it's closed I have no idea what direction it's going.

sorry, that's what it was... I knew it was one of the 2....

if you zoom in, you'll see the very first thing is a square like you said, THEN it's the U I was talking about and then the CVs...
