maya does not have a on/off switch for constraints. they are always on. but you can key the weight of influence on most constraints. this way you can smoothly blend from maximum influence to no influence at all.
oops, my bad - you can disable constraints. the node state is keyable. if you change it to normal, the the contraint works - and if you make it blocking, then the constraint does not work. but it is worth knowing that instead of on/off switching, the changing of weights might be a cool feature. imagine 2 point constraints - one weight is with an expression: weight1 = 1-weight2 - this wayyour constrained object is always between the two goals and you can key one weight and the other adjusts accordingly ...
