Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

STAR WARS KID SUES FOR 250,000 US!!

Found this on Slashdot.org:

"Justified or not, Ghyslain Raza--better known as the Star Wars Kid--is suing the four students who posted his homemade video of himself doing acrobatic "sword-fighting stunts" on the Internet for $250,000. He claims that he has suffered harassment and persecution. It's also interesting how the article states that he quit high school due to this video, at only 15 years of age."

Don't know why anyone would film themselves doing that anyway unless they were trying to take the piss out of starwars.

That's an easy enough question to answer. Lots of folks make star wars fan films - some low budget...some with larger budgets and green screening. He could easily have been videotaping himself for FX tests....you practice with a broomstick, then rotoscope the blade later in After Effects.

There's a whole section at the force.net devoted to this stuff. I've picked up several After Effects techniques there (rotoscoping, force lightning, holographs, compositing, etc.) as well as poor-man's filming techniques. They have a scifi3D forum which is pretty cool as well....mostly MAX modelers but some really top-notch work there.

Here's a link to the fan film section if you're curious:
