Now select the cube and snap the axis to the origin X. Then go to Edit > Duplicate options and set SCALE X -1 and turn on INSTANCE

how do i do this and where are the buttons

press 'insert', then while holding 'x' drag the red line to the center of the grid. the hit 'insert' again to go to object moving again.

the duplicate thing is just like it says.

there is free tutorial on render globals here. and there's probably another free one at 3dbuzz.com.
