This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
I have particles set up already. I am not sure they will make the final shots since they are really odd to frame in. They just aren't always turned on since you can only see a sliver of them in the comp but their contribution to GI calculations is massive. They hog up quite a large bit of Ram since I have them twisting and turning. If I don't like it in the final comp I will use either DPIT or TFD to get the subgrid that I might need. We shall see. As for the snow and ice I think I am going to keep it just based off of my aesthetic pleasure. It accentuates my main feeling originally of "The Polar Express" and the notion that it is cold.

Well lets break this down. I previously made the particles for the lower 45 shot with the train barreling through the mountains. Given I don't have VueXStream 10 I cannot open it in R13. So I had the crappy BG plate which didn't satisfy me. In return I went back to the station shot which doesn't necessarily need particles and the train could just be sitting there. I envisioned it being cold and that is what I am trying to sell. In Los Angeles we cheat in movies so why should I change my ways here.

Sculpted a bit of the shirt and put in a eyelash as a test and set up the length and density maps for the eyebrows. Will adjust those in a bit once the eyelashes are in place.
Also thanks for the photoshop link Dave. In C4D it is built in so I kind of just use Bodypaint unless the healing brush is needed. For the most part though I stay in C4D past sculpting and projecting the initial texture before cleaning it up in BP.
And so the UVing begins...

hehehe of course you cheat the movies in LA, we do it in London, but to have believability is also key to selling it. Anyway I dont wanna get into a flame war over some snow on a boiler -carry on
Jay please don't take that last pic seriously. Just posted it up off a prebuilt head. Anything that I seriously make is gonna be from a zsphere and built from the ground up. I agree. It looks like crap. I will be back at things soon enough. Back at home in Ky vacationing with the family for the 4th.
