Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

gohan1842: No problem. Personally I never modeld a car yet (well maybe a low poly Hummer, nothing fancy) but from what people say the best way is to model a car is to take it in parts. Start with the shell, then doors etc.

Anyway I made the feet bigger as suggested (thanks for that) and modeld some more armour.

Thanks gohan user added image
I decided to take a step back and have a go at texturing. This was my first real attempt at laying out uv's and making a texture, to be honest im quite happy with it user added image

it's coming along nicely... something doesn't look quite right with it though... i think his legs might be a little small in regards to proportion with the upper body. are you going off full body reference?

By small do you mean too short or too thin?
And yes I am using full body refernce, the only problem is that I have about 10 ref pics of him and each one is slightly diffrent.

from that view his legs do leg rather short. but it also could be the illusion of the upper part of the legs being covered up.

I made the legs longer as they did seem kind of short and textured some of the armour. Still got a fair bit of modeling to do so Im going to leave the texturing for now.

it's looking pretty cool... it might just be me but i think the head looks a little big for the body. the collar bone looks a little low and he doesn't seem to have much of a shoulder.

The head might seem a little big because of his chunky mask user added image
