Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

thats an awesome model. Facial expression looks a little dopey though, or is that the standard neutral facial expression?

Another small update. Working hard to get his equipment finished up. I got the majority of his harness done, not it's on to the detail work, and the ammo pouches.

Khaos - Everything modeled off reference, but to find out what kind of equipment they use, I have been talking with my cousin. He was in the Rangers for about 4 years, so he's acting as my personal military consultant.

Aidan - I try to model as little expression into a characters face as possible. That way, when I do my morph targets, I'm working with a blank slate.

Finally got a day off, and got to get some work done. Trying to get the pants worked out. Most of the upper body is done, and I'm pretty pleased with it. Thanks again for the crits and comments, keep em comming.

wowowowowoow very very cool. the only thing i gotta say is that i think the pants should stick out more where they hit the boots, they should be a little baggier i think. other than that great work, keep it up!

Hey, thanks for the posative feedback. I went ahead and fixed those pants. I think they look a lot better now. I'm also playing with some basic shaders and lighting. Please feel free to continue the crits. I could really use the feedback.

Overall its neat. My only crit is the nose, the nostrils look a little deep/high and the filtrum(skin between the nostrils) could do with being a little wider. Thats all.

Thanks for the posative feedback. I went ahead and did some more with the textures. Sorry if they're not great, but I hate texturing, and kind of suck at it. I'm really pleased with the final results.

As for what I plan to do with this guy, he's gonna be rigged, and posed, then set up for a turntable for my demo reel.

nice. Could we see a close up of the face? atm its looking a little untextured and as was already said, more wear needed.

whats the deal with people putting their models on little discs?
