Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

For such bulky armor, the helmet sure is small. I would've expected a larger one, maybe even one with a face mask. Just my thoughts, it looks cool nonetheless.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by making the helmet "Bigger", but I take it you meant something like it needed more thickness to it, so I did that, and I think it looks alot better, so thx for the surggesstion.

I also made the shades bigger and added a few details.

suggestion

I like the character so far, but i seems odd that with all of the armor on him, that his neck would be open like that. I think either the neck should be covered with more armor, or there should be other open spots like the elbow pits and the back of the knees/torso....something to make the outfit a bit more even throughout.

Also, the characters back seems a bit plain atm...maybe with the oxygen tank/jetpack that was suggested before, or if your caracter doesnt need either maybe just a few decorative grooves???

What I lack in skill I make up for with enthusiasm.

yeh, you are right about the open neck thing. I'm possibly gonna make more armor around there.
Hopefully I will be albe to ad the decorative grooves you mention on him, when I textur, although I'm relativly new to the textur scene, so it will probably take me a while to get the results i'm happy with.

thx for the crit. user added image

your project is coming along really well. I like the improvements that you have made. I definately agree that a few extra details would add to your design. When compared to the gun, the space suit seems a little bland. You might also consider introducing another color to add variation as the blue is a little samey after a while.

The only other thing that I am not sure about is the feet. Why aren't they level at the soles?

Anyway, keep up the good work.

I like the start you have made. Things I possibly would address is the crotch for a start. I don't know if it's me but my eyes are just being draw to it (no jokes thank you). I think it might be a bit too bulky. The other thing is that I think the top half of his body could be a little top heavy when you look at the legs and the size of the head and helmet.

Like I said, apart from that it's looking good.

alright, thx again for the nice crit.
I've tried adding as much detail as my abilities can handle. Hopefully you can notice them yourself user added image
though I've used quite a bit of my time on texture since I work in slow motion in photoshop.

Tim_LIVID: hmmm, maybe the piece of armour protecting his crotch IS a bit too thick.....then again, maybe that's a good thing, since it's protecting something very valuable :p user added image
Have not made my mind up about what you said about the legs, but I'm considering making them wider...not really sure yet though.
