Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

So diplomatic there TD. Might wanna watch out for the resolution violation also user added image

Thanks for the reference pics though. I didn't have a decent close up of the rims.

Chrome isn't where I plan to finish with this but I've been playing about with the dgs shader and wanted to see the result with image based illumination.

Cheers

I don't think image size is an issue when they're linked, only when they're attached...

TD - I'm not suggesting you don't have a right to post your thoughts, it's just more appreciated in an otherwise "feel good" community forum, when you make an effort not to be rude (obviously a challenge for you).

I appreciate the positive feedback there mmoore5553 and blomkaal. I'll hopefully have more updates soon (c'mon the Easter long weekend).

On the image size thing, TD edited his post after I replied.

TurboDan speaks his mind.

You know who else spoke his mind? Martin Luther King Jr. And they shot him.

you mistook me. It wasn't meant to be funny. it was meant to make people (especally turbo dan and others that like to "speak their minds") think about that.

Did the rim over. I'm not completely happy but I might move on to another bit and come back later.

Yeah I'm not sold on the tread myself. Was going for this ...

Grooves need to be finer. Still tweaking. Might move on to some bits that are less time consuming and come back.

After a lot of work remodelling the tires with Nurbs and getting them looking half decent, it occurred to me that I'm not really going to see that detail unless I do wheel close ups (not really my thing).

Here's an update after I got playing with a reasonable image file for image based lighting. Lots more to do and not much time to do it but I'll get there ...

Just another update. I'm getting lazy and bored with this model. Put the glass in as black.
