Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

hey i had the same problem at scholl 2 dy an the sloution is really easy

go polygons -> tool options -> keep faces together (make sure it is ticked)

this fixes it an allows u to extact those faces an keep them as an object rather than havin to merge all those verts

i know its a bit late but in that tut he does a lot of it


Now at SMU doing BSc 3D Computer Animation so its hard to get on here

Had same problem

I had the exact same problem, it seems to be something to do with the way the faces are extruded, because when i did the extract i got lots of individual pieces of the bumper, what i had to do was "merge vertices" on the bumper, then do the extract, worked fine. PS. the keep faces together option didn't solve it.
