Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Hmmm? yeah thats constructive....not, so please guys engage the thought cells before replying. It will help keep the crap out of the forums...

Cheers
Jay

er... I'm sorry, but that seems a little harsh and kind of abusing your privelages as a mod. Am i missing something here? That comment sounds like it is just agreeing with the previous comment. What's the problem?

maybe because Jay isnt EMO,
would you want someone calling your work EMO and have someone agree with that guy, if its not supposed to be EMO?

i wouldnt, so i think Jay was right on about deleting that post.

and besides, constructive critisism is what we come here for (along with interesting forum topics and posts) so i think calling his work EMO and then someone posting JUST saying "i love your comment" isnt interesting, or constructive..... so if i could, i would delete stuff like that too, :bandit:

then why not delete the original post?

And how are you supposed to describe something if you are not allowed to refer to what you think it looks like?

And if it's ok to delete posts according to what WE think is relevant, then why can't you or i do it?

sure, i don't like seeing the porn spam, but as Jay said, surely the best thing to do is ignore it. Why not in this case?

spam can come in other forms than the links we've been getting. I know I removed several posts from a guy coming in and just posting "x" as a reply to a bunch of threads.

I think I do recall someone saying "I enjoyed your comment." or something like that a bunch of times around the forum. Not saying it's the same guy, but there's that kind of spam out there, too, that we mods try to get rid of.

Which, is a pain in the ass because of the way its setup thru the site. Changing every post to not delete in a 2 page long thread is a pain. Just for ONE post....lol

This type of Spam is all over the web, so SM users shouldn't feel its just us (it kinda comes over that way). So let a Mod know warn others if you think the post is hazerdous and request a mod to delete the post, they can do it and ban the account, simple...

There are tools to stop spam registrations and ways to change activation on boards like pBB, but I am not to sure on vBulletin, and I have known these methods to slow down registration or stop it all together in severe cases.

This issue is one I feel we should live with, whoever is doing it a probably a really imature 12 yr old script kiddy who thinks he is a hacker. As Jay said, they will get bored and move on, once they realise we ain't interested.

The X thing Mike is talkin about sounds like someone testing a hack script to me, but maybe they just have a limited vocabualry :p

Dude, my point wasn't from a harsh point of view, I was merely commenting that irrelevant comments in posts such as : 'I love your comment ' has nothing to do with giving crit on work in particular. Hence my deleting the post.

Im not abusing my position as a mod, I dont 'get off' on being a mod as 'power' does not interest me in any way or form. Im merely keeping spam, in, what ever form it comes out of this Website, this being one of the reasons I was asked to mod.

Again to all, be vigilant with the porn appearing on the site and any other crud that is felt needed to be cleared up.

Cheers
Jay

jay - I didn't mean to suggest that you were getting off on your mod power - sorry if it came across that way - I was just surprised to hear that such a comment would be considered spam. I guess I don't really see the problem - I feel like I have seen plenty of posts that don't seem particularly relevant, but I wouldn't want them deleted.

I just get a bit p!$$ed with time wasters on threads who have nothing to say, when crit is required. Maybe Im just to darn serious about the work LOL

Aye, I don't get the feeling that they're "hunting" anyone/anywhere in particular...I think they're just being dumb =|

Anyway, I just skip over their posts and don't open the links, but aye, you (ye olde Admins) definitely have my support on this matter.
