Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Thanks for the encouragement Jay!

Another update. I wish I tried to get a reference plane before I started. Extremely hard to figure out proportions...trial and error. Crits welcome.

I modeled a few more details and added some color. No textures or anything right now, just PHONG E on everything. I still have some more details to model and some adjustments on the jaw, but other than that, mostly done.

Taking a few days off to collaborate on another project. Please feel free to post comments to let me know what you think so far and/or what could make it better (I'll be watching). Thanks!

That looks way cool! Do you think you could get a straight-on shot with him in bind pose so that I can see him with the proportions? I like him a lot! He looks like he took a long time to make!! KUTAW

Jay: I downloaded a couple of free PhotoShop like programs and so I'll give the worn out paint my best shot. That would look really cool...just like the movie.

wasatch5_sparticus: Thanks for the compliment. Not quite done with the other project (Members Lounge Forum-Thread started by njon) but as soon as I do, I'll pose and render like you said. I'll have to add a skeleton (never done it but read up on it and feel confident) to pose him. I'm kind of iffy on the porportions so you'll definitely have to give me your opinion afterwards. Thanks again.

I think the modeling took me somewhere between 12 - 15 hours total (spread out over a few days). It really wasn't that bad.

kinddoggofwar & mastone: Thanks for the great comments. Really glad everyone's liking this. Not only does it make me feel like I'm doing things right, it makes me want to work that much harder!

Sorry it took me forever to get back to this but here are the da vinci pose shots. Now that I'm a little more experienced with Maya, I look at this and say...yuk because I could make it soooo much better now. I'm debating whether or not I want to remodel him. I think it would be really cool to model the whole robot gang.
