And yeah, i stop protecting oem stores, or you will claim me again as "subtle advertiser".

LOL, That was just a speculation... No need to get mad over it...
About this store - If it isn't legitimate ( I guess it isn't ) then why buy from it and not use some P2P program to get it for free anyway... Your money probably doesn't find it's way to the manufacturers but to somebody else who didn't rightfully earn it. Why not keep it all?
If you really mind being fair you have too pay the full price, the way these companies intended you to.
Benny

Note: I'm not sure it isn't legitimate. don't kill me if it is...

Calm down neolight, the issue is not the packaging, when you buy software from manufacturers the money is going to the people who make the software so they can make more software. Simple.

people have to make money somehow, don't you want to make money so you can buy food and shelter?

and considering the cg industry is relatively small there aren't exactly many people to sell the product to. although the trend is rising, so maybe some day when Maya, XSI, 3DS etc is known beyond the specialists they will be as cheap as photoshop

of course i could equally be wrong with that last paragraph

I'm very certain that OEM software is illegal if not purchased with a computer... I went down to the local computer shop and asked... they even showed me a OEM version of Vista with big red letters saying "for distribution with the purchase of a computer only" or something like that.

No idea about other software, but since most EULAs are based on the same template, I'm 99.999% sure that the licences are all the same... user added image

Speaking of software prices, why buy anything when there is software licensed under the GPL? :p

tbh, I've never actually used Blender... but a few pro artists use it so it has to be decent.

Perhaps I should rephrase what I said... Why buy common software like Windows, Office and Norton Firewall when there are better alternatives that are free? Specialized software such as Maya doesn't really have an equivalent in the FOSS world, so you'll have to buy that.

Thanks everyone for comments and my apologizes for being a little bit harsh with my explanation. The reason i was persistent with my opinion is that windows vista i purchased through oemsoftwaremarket was installed and always updated with no problems. As i know non genuine softwares can not pass through software protection platform with system validation on microsoft website, which i think means i received genuine windows.

Could be there are oem editions only for distribution with computers, and there are no words at https://www.oemsoftwaremarket.com/sof..._ultimate.html saying that they sell oem vista. But i received it with no additional packages and papers, and it worked just as good as if it was retail version.

That doesn't say much. My friend got a Vista serial from the internet somewhere and it works just fine (he isn't bothered by the 'genuine advantage' and stuff).
Now I know I sound like someone who's talking about himself but doesn't want people to blame him but I'm not. I'd probably get a non-genuine Vista too if I had any use for it and if it could run on my computer.

I wish it was simple... That way I'd known my (parent's) money finds it's way to good hands, and not to people who didn't earn it (the government) and people who have to much of it (company's owners). the people who actually build these programs are usually payed by the hour, not by profits. having high profit's means paying more taxes and only seldom does it mean higher salaries.

why?

you get it when you buy a new computer anyway, so bother pirating an OS?
i never could make sense of why people would bother with that

Not all computers come with an Operating System. Also what about the people with say windows 98 that want to upgrade to XP or XP to vista.

they dont?
weird

if you want to upgrade from 98 to xp or vista then you'd buy a new computer because the computer probably doesn't have the hardware to run vista

When Vista was released, its DRM was bypassed in less than a month. Just becuase it can upgrade it doesn't mean its geniune software.

I doubt it. OEM software is intended for bundling with new computers or some other deal like a hardware upgrade.

Most new computers (besides Macs) come with either XP or Vista now (I think XP is fading though it is a better OS - there's almost no question about that).

The problem is not all new computers come in one piece and therefore they don't usually come with money grabbing(FF VII  ) Vista - which is usually not even a problem though you do get a nice discount when buying a new computer.

I, for instance, have a genuine XP serial, and I always assemble my new computers out of hardware. this saves money not only because it's not pre-assembled but also because I don't have to buy a new OS when I've got a good old one (serials don't age like hardware or furniture last time I checked :attn: ).

And one last thing - a phrase of mine that was ignored:

I'd probably get a non-genuine Vista tooif I had any use for it ...

I wouldn't have gotten a Vista even if it was free and my computer could run it. It has no obvious advantages over XP and so far it has no exclusive software (besides DirectX 10 which is a bit shame since I wanted to see if it's any easier to program games with then 9, but all new games so far have a DirectX 9 version too), and It takes much more RAM, hard disc space and CPU usage constantly.

Lol, My posts are getting bigger and bigger :headbang: . hope somebody bothers reading user added image .
