Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

You dont need to speak french to read pictures. Its common sense.

As Nitro says its been translated into English.

Bit like following instructions from Ikea, dont bother reading it, just look at the pictures, its pretty self explanatory.

oh ya, i know (all the instructions for my models are in Japanese but reading the pictures is enough), but that doesn't stop the possibility of you speaking French user added image

Draw a matching front and side view to load up as references or go buy a hulk action figure, take front, side, and back pictures. Match everything up in photoshop, then load the individual images into maya as reference planes. It will be easier to model off ref planes than if you just try to free-form it...unless you're a genius at anatomy and perspective and have serious art or sculpting aptitude.

Hey Nitro

The only ones I have is the one pic you see in question and a side view of the same model there was sent from a friend via email, I would have to print them off, trace them on blank paper then upload them back to the system, Unfortunatly I do not have use off photoshop............till I start university anyway. Really wanted to make time of my time off, cannot wait till then.

Unless there is some kind samaritan out there?

The reason why I picked this version of the hulk, being a big comic hero fan, I always thought this was the best representation of the big green himself. I really want him to come to life??

So how initially would I set up my planes What tools would you recommend.user added image

Promise to take my stabilizers off soon guys, I really just want to do a good job on this.user added image

sorry if this is blunt (i dont actually know what that word means in this context...) but it's better that you learn it youself tbh... there's nothing worse than being dependant on others for something small and simple

if you asked how to do these things then i would say its knowledge we're born with (ie, i dont know how i learnt how (obviously we aren't born with knowledge))

Chirone has a point. You can easily google "Image plane set up in maya" or something to that effect and get many hits like this one. Or, hit F1 and search maya's manual...IIRC, the poly modeling helmet tutorial there goes through setting up image planes (at least the maya part of it, anyway).

???????????????????????????????

you can screen capture the model????

you can render the scene and save it out????

ok, i'll stop with the excessive "???" :p (i dont know what they are for when you're not asking a question)

start a thread in the WIP forum and just upload pictures.
if you're using windows just hit the print screen button and paste the image somewhere
it's good to see the wireframe on shaded (that's an option that you can enable in the camera) so then people can tell you if you're doing anything not-so-cool with your wires
you can also render images (i made a hotkey for it, but there are icons up the top that you can hit)

oh yeah, you should do the whole thing at some point user added image
