The number of divisions on the disk or on the cylinder?Yes, and if you see my first post, you'll see that you need to up the number of divisions.
Why would you smooth it? Just up the number of divisions on the disc. Smoothing it will also increase the number of divisions along the length of the strand, which you just set properly right before :SYes and more devisions on the extrude then smooth.................dave
Yes your right but at the moment Im not counting polygon just trying to get SilverFeather the dna strands as quick as possible, when SilverFeather starts to understand more and starts asking questions on poly counts i would answer them then..............daveWhy would you smooth it? I was asking because the disk just won't make the shape like on the original spirals, it looks like it has too small dents. Scaling it down didn't fix it so I may need to make a new curve with deeper dents. You change the number of divisions to however many you want. The more divisions, the smoother the line will be.
Just curious, but why are you asking us if scaling it down will make it a better shape? Try it. Do you like it? Then it does. If you don't, then it doesn't. :S 3D is an artistic medium, and you need to be able to make decisions for yourself if you're going to be proficient at it.
Already did that. O_o Divisions @ 25, disc already small enough, as for making the disc even smaller, I tried. Any smaller and it will look like pasta.Looking at your curve I would think you should be getting better result then that, try increasing the devisions in the extrude and making the disc smaller...........dave
Still not looking right, and for some reason, some areas seem to have been altered. It will be hard for you to judge it just by one strand. Put in the other strand, and it will give you better insight on what you need to do.
A nurbs circle?Yeah, just extrude a small circle along your helical curves. Then convert to poly and use a bend deformer. Pretty similar to the previous suggestion, but this will be nurbs initially and you don't have to extract the curve from your helix.
