This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

He certainly had a distinctive style in these works, but when you see them all together they are incredibly impressive. They basically illustrate Dante's book from the 14th Century- 'The Divine Comedy' which describe Dante's mythical journey through the three worlds of the afterlife, Hell, Purgatory and Heaven, escorted by the poet Virgil. The books worth a read actually.

Botticelli never completed the work (which he started in around 1490) but 92 of his drawings for the comedy survive, along with some work done for the project by his pupils. He's probably better known for the 'Birth of Venus' and 'Spring' but I think this is my favourite work of his, just because it really tells the story and the style is so pure.

some very inspired torture! I've read a tiny excerpt of the Divine Comedy but it was a long while ago. Maybe my patience has matured. at the time i found it heavy going altho lush language.

okay - time for me to go to bed but first some updates user added image

my maiden is taking form - worked on the head for a long time trying to adjust it to show innocence and purity - without doing a michael jackson number on her - move the nose up a little - eyes down a little - round out the forehead - worked for hours on the cheeks - trying to make the cheeks look soft and not too high but still kind of noble and then took that line off the lips and tried to make the mouth more natural - then adding a little detail to the area around the eyes and always trying to make the mesh match actual musculature more closely and also make more natural transitions over bone structure. A little work on the ear as well. So the differences are subtle but pretty major.

I want to do some work around the eyes to make a more natural looking eye.

Also the ear has an odd fold.

The upper lip is very long but i've tried moving it up and then the other things begin to appear out of proportion. I think i'll leave it for a bit.

in this block of polygon there's an angel waiting to get out - i just have to remove what is unneccesary ( or something like that - it getting pretty late... LOL )

ok.. just some little things. there are still 2 sharp points on cheaks.. know you are working hard on throughs..

BTW body is looking promising..

don't know if its witht he still you wanted but I think the jaws should be more rounded, and fuller. ma.ybe breing the ear to the front some..

and a little off the point on the nose..

hey thanks Pony - think you made good points there - sometimes hard to see your model when you're working on it all the time.

in the meantime i've cleaned up a whole lot of the mesh to smooth it out
