This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.
By fixing the edges do you mean smoothing them a bit? that is the only Crit I can muster up... they do look great! I cant wait for the matrix adaptation...
roach105, I'm replying on an old post, but how would you go about smoothing the edges for imported lego minifigs so that the head retains the original roundness? i'm new at maya and am currently struggling with that same thing you mentioned.
hey tylerm, you fix the edge problem you need to merge verts first. just select object and than under edit polygons just select merge vertices. Make sure to reset to default values 0.01 or something like that.
You can than apply harden smooth on the entire surface.
roach: thank you for responding, that solved my problem. my minifig is now as smooth as...something that's...really smooth. lol
the work i've seen you post on this site is awesome. a couple of those pics, i seriously can't tell that they're not real. would you be able to share any tips you might have on how to get your legos so photorealistic? i'm really interested in this topic, and have been trying to ramp up to do exactly the kind of thing you and some others have done. [brian ellenbracht also comes to mind. i really appreciate his work as well]. i've been scanning forums and googling like mad lately attempting to ramp up with maya, but its a big application. i would appreciate any advice you [or others] have to offer. thank you.
