Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Each square is large enough to hold the tower, so that's luckily not going to be a problem.

As for the texture, I think it works quite well on the pieces, though I might need something else for the large flat areas (ie the playing board), I haven't decided yet.

The images I've posted so far (except for the black ones) are not 100 % accurate though, as the scale and lighting has changed since then.

Cheers!

Dana: thanks, be sure to check out the next "preview" which is a battle between the white queen and the black knight, coming up soon.

Uber: thanks, the shield on the knight (I suppose you mean the knight, the pawn doesn't have a shield) is a polygon shape (I use polygons 99,9% of the time), with a shader I made myself, but you can get a long way by playing around with the various settings on the materials.

Finally got the battle between the knight and queen done, waiting for it to render out (and praying to all that's holy that it looks ok since I won't have time to re-render it if anything goes wrong!)... will have it up sometime tomorrow, depending on how my presentation goes...

well well, talk about reviving the ancient dead.. or something.. anyway, the animation I did with the queen vs the knight got lost at some point, which is a bit sad. But I´ve finally gotten back to this project, so I am working on something new. Oh, and I got the King posed, which I have been wanting to do for some time..

Image of that here:

And a quick render from the fight I mentioned: (I still have the scene with all the animation in it, but I can´t be bothered to spend 24 hours rendering again user added image)
