the "never in 3D" thing is no longer a rule.

LOL, If only I could have waited a bit longer to decide on what I really wanted to do. I'm sticking with what I'm woring on now.

Ok so does it have to be around 3000 tris or is that what we should aim for?

Im asking because im modeling Samus aran from the Metroid series and...well...shes pretty detailed so i want to know if i can make her as detailed as i need her to be or if i have to work around the 3000 tris.

Another thing, the 2 texture files includes bump and displacement maps? just wondering to check if i will be able to make bumps or if i have to ave those for textures only.

Thanks
Airjordan

the 3000 limit only applies if you want to make it an actual game model,
I assume the two maps are 1 for the body and 1 for the head, best let mtmckinley answer taht one.

Ohh cool cause i already have 800 tris just on the gun =P. Since i dont intend to make this an actual in game model ill make her as detailed as I need for things to be cool.

As for the Bump and texture maps having to be 2 total ill wait for an official answer though that shouldnt be a problem, it would just make some things easier.

Thanks though user added image

there are no limits. the 3000 tri thing is only there as a guideline for those wanting to do low poly game models.

Cool. So anything goes for the textures as well?

Just checking as most of the stuff im working on could easily be achieve with a bump map and it could save me TRIs and time.

Thanks

the texture limit within the same rule is also regarding making a low poly game model, yes.

Really nice theme contest.

I would like to model the Ghost'n Goblin hero....but i have seen on line (sigh sigh...) that a 3d version of this game had been released for PS2 with the title of "Maximo: ghost to glory"...... in 2001....:-(

so...some of my favourite games in which there was and hero or a character were Shinobi, Sunset Riders, Toki, Willow, Spaltter House 1, and Wonder Boy......

...and i have chosen....... Splatter House!!!!!!! of which i never listened any 3D future versions for any consolle o pc.

good modelling time and gaming to all!!!!!

DUDE!! Splatterhouse! I am so jealous. Great Choice! I loved that game. Maximo 1 and 2 are among my all time favorite PS2 games, btw.

make sure everyone reads the rules, thoroughly. The "no longer in 3D" rule is no longer in effect.

Game choice question

I was just wondering, does it have to be from a previously made video game or can it be from any known game? Like a board game or such?

And Um... if it's not too much trouble, since there seem to have been a few revisons during the course of these 3 pages of postings, could you possibly re-post the rules as they are currently stated?

Thanks!

The rules in the first message are the most up to date.

hmm, I've been waiting to receive that newsletter in order to have up-to-date info, but never got it. When did it go out? Think you could forward one to me?

yes you can, it is up to you, just let one of the mods know and they will change it in your thread title.
