if you want to, but it won't be considered when judging occurs. We'll just be looking at the featured object.

oh of course, i have another question. i will be detailing many parts of the copter, so instead of posting pictures for the final entry, can i post a short animation, that will be circling the copter, from clay version to my final render version?? or do u want couple of pics of diff. shots???

if you want to render a 360, that's fine, but post at least 1 image of the final for the forum's use.

You'll also need to find hosting for the video, more than likley.

Hey Matt,

I entered the newbie contest and started working on a mouse, (first on a toy robot but someone said to do something more realistic) but now I am realizing after people have said, I need to take a picture of an object to show realism.

Is it ok to restart and start a new thread with a new object, or do I have to continue through with the one I have already started?

you can change it in the thread you have if you want. Or, your old one can be deleted and you can start anew.

if there is ever any question in anyone's mind as to whether someone should be categorized more toward a Normal entry, feel free to PM me and I'll discuss it with the mods to see if we deem an "upgrade" necessary.

Usually, I look at the quality or technique of someone's progress images to guage, based on my own opinion, whether or not someone fits in their category. I do admit, that I don't always pay attention to what category an entrant has placed themselves in, and could, possibly, miss such a discrepancy.

I have been trying very hard to get a dust effect for my model but i cant seem to get it right. Can i use photoshop to add the dust into the final image?

oh definitely. I would suggest using textures for dust, rather than trying to actually model it! that'd be painful!

Make sure you read the entire Final Entry submission post in the Final Entry threads! People aren't posting a photograph with their final entry for easy comparison with their entry.

Mike, is there any way you can darken the white background on these message forums. The pure white background washes out detail in renders, like mine.
