'G' Man

looks great. I love the engine detailing. More, more more !!!

If you are having a hard time with detail in open gl, template it, it will still be visible. If it gets too much just do what you can. I think you could lose the oval windows on the cockpit area and make them more parallel with an angle here and there, like a b29 bomber plane, but obviously less glass LOL.

Lastly, on the very top of the ship, perhaps add some struts like an aircraft wing going across width ways, that will help sell it in that area.

Once it gets too much for you to move about, send it over as an ma file, as you use version 7 of Maya as opposed to my v6.

Sorry for not responding earlier yesterday on the messenger, I was in the middle of a 3d matte, which is looking very good atm and I dont want to come out of until its done...

Great work, talk soon as usual...
Best
Jay

Sweet, I'll get on the struts tonight, I was thinking of modeling in a few 'patchwork' panels as well through the top and what we were calling the cargo loading area, havent expiremented wiht it yet, so not sure what it'll look like. I've been able to use layers pretty well to keep me form getting bogged down, its just when igo to view the whole model that i get laid out. have Got to get a new rig soon no way around it.
Glad you like the engine detail, i couldnt deide on it, one day it was workign for me, the next day it wasnt, so forth and so on. I'm still going to fill in the cracks wiht odds and ends details, still trying to go ISD like on it.
anyway, Talk soon.

-hangs head in shame-
Wife cought a virii.....backed everything up on my backup hard drive....formatted my rig right?.. only my c: drive; no biggie do it all the time; least every 5 months or so; reinstalled my OS. Notice that my partitions are different;; started out with a 50 gig and a 149 gig, ended up with a 62 gig and a 129 gig, still havent found the missing 9 gigs...never told my rig to format my backup drive; and darn well never told it to repartition my hard drive...
anyway. had no cd's so i backuped everything up on my backup hard drive. This model included....and alot of other graphics stuff i'd been working on....:headbang:
Going to attempt recovery tonight i'm not very hopefull but gotta try ya know?.
Jay... want me to start over on it ...again....if i cant recover it?..
it shold go much faster this time surly it wont take me more then a day or so to get back where i was, sinc ei hav all the ref pics saved here for most of what i'd done and i've already overcome the problems i had to begin with.
Funny thing?.. i was going to break it up into three or four MA files and e-mail it to you the night i got home and found out my wife infected me.... just finished it the night before;
-cries-

you COULD install your OS onto another HD or partition, and then connect your 'corrupted' drive as just another hard drive... that way you don't need to rely on the previous windows installation and see what files survived... running an antivirus scan on the drive can get rid of the infection while hopefully saving your precious files.

good luck man, and sorry to hear about the infection.

Sucks!! I was beginning to wonder what had happened to it. (Puts 'Wanted' poster back in drawer)

Its up to you if you want to start again. Im really cranking ahead right now on Outlaws as the release is the end of next month, so I have time in hand to build new stuff if need be.

But let me know if you want to go ahead again..

Later Bro

Just to update you bro..
In the process of trying to recover atleast some of the stuff i lost.
I dont know what i'll be able to recover, since my c drive stole part of my D drives partition, which means that By installing my os and basic drivers, i could possibly have accidentally overwrote the ghots of the files that were formatted of of my rig, Good news, only 12 gigs worth of my d drive was stolen, bad news, the stuff i want to get back might have been on that twelve gigs...worse news..i don't know if my os reinstalled on any of that 12 gigs or not.. Anyway, I'm scanning my hard drive now tryign to look for lost data, it's going to take some days, Hopefully i'll be able to recover atleast some version of the model so i don't have to start from scratch..( not to mention atleast some of the other 139 gigs of stuff i had on that drive). I'll update you in a few days when the scans are complete and when i have a chance to review what was found to try and recover some of it, then test the files and see what is still useable...
Wish me luck, or somethign of that nature altleast user added image
