I got it the other day didn't know what it was so i formatted my HDD and did a full windows reinstallation (lost most of my files as i have no CD's left to backup onto) just to find out it didn't fix the problem. Got the patch today after three days off the net.

3djoe... I'll let ya know. I got SP3 from a friend today. Gonna try and install it when I get home today. If it dont work, then I'll give ya my info. Thanks.

ckyuk... yeah. it's a memory resident program. Reformat all ya want, it wont kill it. Although, has anybody tried flashing their bios yet? Might work.

Ok guys. I need some help here.

1. My antivirus says I'm not infected. The Symantec "fix" also says I dont not have the virus.

2. Searching in regedit, I've found instances of bill.exe, billy.exe, and msblast.exe, however, I deleted those manually.

3. When I go online up pops the SVCHOST error.

So, since I can't do anything online because of this bug, and since my antivirus and symantec says it aint on my system, what am I to do?

I downloaded the patch fix, but it requires at least SP2 to work, which I do not have, unfortunately, due to the reformatting. So, I'm kinda stuck here. I can't get the service pack to run the patch fix. Does anyone know a way around this?

Mmmm.... Linux is looking might purty right about now. user added image

Imho you should follow the removal instructions set out by the anti virus people, as they state that just deleting random things won't work.
