Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Working on a gallop animation right now. Will not be pretty but should show me most of the extreme limits on some joint rotations. To help me place more of the hydrolic's/tendons and other things where they need to be to have enough clearance capable to generate that movement.

Gonna have a robotic cowboy to go with this?

Well, here is the animation. It needs a lot of tweeking, but the purpose, right now, is to use it to test some other things out.. the animation will be cleaned up a lot more in a week or so. The deformations on the skin are pretty rough also.. I just skinned it without worrying about the skin weights.

need divx 5.2.1
save as target if you wish.

Looks awesome for a rough render. The tweaks should be very minor I would think. Cool transition for mech to skinned btw.

mhcannon, thanks.

I was getting it ready for more work and thought this pose looked funny. The spine is allined along world center so adding some things will be easier.

Yeah I animated by hand. Not sure what you mean about the script though.

create a script for the walk cycle. so u wont have to animate it. and maybe even add a bend script for the horse to bend down while running or something

gohan, thanks, ok I see.

Rigging up the neck with more STUFF. What you're seeing here is the tendons put on the neck vertabra. They work well rigged. The ends had to be modeled some into the connection cups on the next vertabra up. A video of it working, soon to follow.

and don't forget, still wires and hoses to add. plus lots of extra bits of hardware. This is just the basic structure of it.

I love that stretched out pose. A snake with 4 legs or an aerodynamic attackhorse shot out of a cannon :p
Cool progress here.

A fine looking creature so far Pony. I'm sure you're aware of what needs tweaking in the animation flow, the only thing i really noticed was perhaps a little too much movement in the neck. Saying that I do think the slight flick of the mane looks very elegant and should be kept, just to a slightly lesser extent.

Like others here I'm baffled; but hugely impressed by the engineering of the horse. I think your physics understanding leaves us all very much looking forward to the coming weeks of progress user added image

Good luck, keep going!

petrol. oh I agree about the flick of a mane. Thanks for all your kind words. On the gallop animation, haven't tweeked any yet, but I don't like the neck movement myself. I learned about the dope sheet yesterday. LOL

And thanks about the mechanical stuff. I try. It gets more interesting as I go. Speaking of.

In a couple of hours I'll be done rendering on the demo animation of the neck and some of its workings. Demonstrates the tendons moment, etc.
