This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
I've worked on the scruff for a bit and i think it looks nice,
I fiddled with the hair aswell, but it turns out that maya hair doesn't "understand" HDRI and renders nice and black.
Fur doesn't understand hdri either probably but that doesn't matter because that still looks good.
For the hair i'll probably use rectangular planes with a number of subdivisions on them and make them NCloth objects so that it falls naturally.
If anyone has a brighter idea let me know
Small update(no beauty passes sorry )
I have redone basically everything aside from the head and the hat,
I still have to model the Gun(in holster = easier )
his hands, his whip and some small attributes(like buttons, shoe-laces, belt etc_)
and then still the texturing part
"Your weapons are no match for ours! People of Mars, surrender!"
"Um, this isn't Mars. This is Earth."
"Earth? Earth-with-nuclear-weapons Earth?"
"Yes."
[long pause] "Friend!!"
@Mayaniac
Thanks and the renders are dark because;
-Only image based rendering, no lights whatsoever (and my guess is that it's an 8 bit image)
-Al materials except the eyes are lambert no sss or blinns which makes it kinda flat
But yes you' re right my renders always seem to be a tad dark
Finished some more work today;
did some work on the attributes layed out some UV's and started experimenting with Mudbox for a change (still have to install ZBrush but forgot to take the serialkey with me from work) and textured the hat a bit
Mastone one thing i notice is the form of the clothes... if you think of the way clothes stay on your body they follow your body structure. Muscles, bones ( if you are skinny ) now i'm looking @ your model and i don't have the feeling he have any body structure ...
Thanks for your comment and yes you're right, the shirt needs more definition.
To add to my defence though; i couldn't get the displacement right from the map i got from Mudbox and on top of that i am waiting for my wacom tablet to arrive and painted everything with a mouse which was quite annoying it's doable but somehow i can't add the detail i want to in the way i want to :headbang:
if i have time this weekend (and i have my Wacom here) i will awe you with some sculpting skills you've never seen before( no pressure no diamonds LOL)-only joking off course-.
