Close up of Trebuche counterweight

I have to try and create a better rope finish, and make the rocks a bit more realistic.

Your right about the textures, I simply threw a quicky together, to get an idea as to what it would look like. user added image

Had a bit more time on it now and changed a few things.

Still have to work on the firing mechanism a bit more and wind on the ropes.

I really like the rope's shape - it looks a little modern tho like climbing rope - i'd go for the cloth basket, although the metal is really nicely done, the cloth just fits better - maybe it could be leather... the machine is really coming together nicely - i'm a bit confused about the physics of it tho... where's the tension?

The rope is a simple CV Curve, Coiled roughly, with a nurbs circle positioned at one end, then using extrude with tube selected, to get the wire effect I want.

The rope has a more hemp look now.
Dropped the chain.
Modified the crossbar with rope holding it together.

So here is an update
