Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

z1mmnd14 : emmm 22 last time I checked user added image (i think!!)

I'm on 4.0 and the thing is it's on uni computers so I cant change any settings etc. user added image

I'm thinking about using the default renderer but I really cant be bothered to layout the UV's. It's just so boring and the model will be a pain in the butt to layout those uvs.

Actually I think it would be a neat idea to let one or two spiders to crawl under the geometry. That's where they're hiding in real world, aren't they? Just an idea...

It looked like one or two spiders popped out from under the rocks which looked cool.

I have to say I like the motion with less bounce better - it looks more spider like.

Really cool animation. Looking forward to watching this one grow.

i think you should have some of have some of them crawling out of holes in the ground. Crawl up to the top of the hole pause and then join the crowd.

right I've been on a texturing mission. I'm still not 100% about the choice of renderman vs maya so I thought I just layout the UVs while i thought about it.

So here's an animation with some textured spiders.

that's got to be a hundred times more disgusting right off - now if you give them a little fuzz and drool they'll be totally nasty user added image

yeah I was wondering about fur, can I assign fur to individual faces or do I have to assign it to complete objects? I tried to quickly do it and I ended up with it covering the entire body.... and it looked crap user added image

I think you can assign where on the body fur should be with the fur tools, but for a complex model maybe creating a proxy and emitting fur from that is easier?
