Yeah exactly... Like wax/plastic. Im not sure what I can do to change it. I guess play with the shader settings is the first option.

Thats kind of what I had in mind for the eye, nothing major, just something to break it up a bit.
And yes, lighting his chest is an improvement I plan to make. But I should work more on that area in z before I do.

Perhaps a colour map may go some way to adding some subtleties to his skin.

Looking good ben
If you have got UVs that you can use, you could put things like blue vains on the bottom layer of you shader then adjust the top layer so it just shows through. The light in the top left hand corner is a bit of a distraction for me.............dave:attn:

Yes Ben I have used sss fast skin that has three layers, I dont know were they get the fast bit from? They work on a scale ratio so would not realy work on a default setting, you need to turn the layers on one at a time to get the setting that are required. The last layer is a back light layer that will show things like a vain going through a ear with the light behinded......hope that makes sence...........dave

Any ideas, Steve, why the Gnomon tut's might not be downloading properly? Im registered and everything, but when I go to the free tutorials, click on it, it seems to be downloading, but never actually starts. Just had a shower and came back and it's still not started? It's not that big a file, surely?

Sure my Flash player's updated enough. Tried saving as target...

tch

I couldnt get it to download. I tried in ie and firefox, updated to the latest flash player, tried connecting to it from other links about the web. Unless im just being lazy, and not leaving it long enough. But one time I left for about quarter of an hour and it was still downloading. The longest parts of their paid for tutorials dont take a third as long as that. All I can think to do is leave it running for an hour or so,and hope maybe they just prioritise download speeds on the paid for tuts over the free ones. Its annoying cause it looks really good, and alex alvarez is always good in tutorials, I learn from him when I watch him.

have you seen it? Yeah, I mean, watch it, not download it, just, when its preparing itself, did you get that gnomon workshop logo spinning around in the middle of the screen. The background is white, then turns black later, then back to white, and so on?
