This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Wow good to hear from the effects moderator!! Thanx man, once again, i'm hoping it will animate okay, i'm afraid it wont tho. Hows that nightcrawler effect coming? Me and Eli are going to go see X2 on friday i think. Okay so i'm outta work a 4 tomorrow, hope to get something done with all the cool high-res photos of Isreal.

Oh and )v(att, about the bottom of the ship. It looks the same as the top actually, i just realized tho, after watching ID4 again = P, that the bottom doesn't really have that much light on it. Because of the size of the ship, the sun doesn't really get much light on it. You will be able to see it in the space scene at the begining. It goes like this:

600 million years ago during the ICE age, an alien space ship crashes into the earth. This is the opening shot, and I want it to look really good. Does anyone wanna help me with a texture for the inside of a sphere i can use as the "sky" in space? I'ma need a few shots in space, then i will need to somehow model a shot of the earth during the ice age. Unfortuantely, there were no cameras (or humans) that long ago so i kinda have to make it up. Don't really know how yet.

Looking KILLER man!

From a compositing standpoint, everything looks good, however..
I guess if I had to give any anal advice, it would have to be:

-The Black and White point balance of your bg plate in relation to your cg element(s) needs to be balanced.
(BALANCE! Daniel-san!) hehe..

What compositor are you using again? ..that way I can point you to a page in the docs that will help you achive that "color-corrected" look, as if they were shot together, otherwise, I'll write a small tut, and post it here for yauser added image

Plus, a "tinge" more blur & grain to your ship plate to match your bg plate would go far as well.

Sorry for being anal, but I'm trying to turn a new leaf, and give more than just a one-word "Cool! , or, WOW!" postinguser added image hehe...

Sweet awesome man, i appreciate the Anal-ness i'll go work on that stuff now.

About the B/W balance daniel san, i did the comps in photoshop, although when i do them for the movie i'll use those still images, and composite animations on top with after effets, they HUGE images, so i can pan along them, hopefully without looking like panascan = O

So i did do a brightness and contrast and i wasn't happy with it. Although i'm sure the grain will help (this can be done in After effects i assume?). I'm gonna go grain that layer in Photoshop.

Aright, so i went a lil overboard with the film grain, sorry. But it didn't look right. Still pretty cool tho. This is a concept for the animation, when you get to see the mother ship the first time. This is the small version.

ELI we could composite actors into that scene!!!

Its nice i have this in a 2k square (2thousand pixels), we could get a printing company and have them print out in 2k !!! Hang a poster up at school.....that would boost sales a tad = )

Course all the AV geeks will probably pick it apart if they got their hands on a still image = O

the composite tests look great vectorman. especially the first one. I would love to help out on this project (Uni commitments stop me though user added image)

I dont like the fire too much it looks too solid for fire (I know it's a big fireball but it's still too solid user added image) what about filming some real fire? or finding stock footage and using that? That would obviously look much more realistic (same goes for smoke too) just film it against black and you will be fine. user added image
