Ok just finishing of the lashes and will move on to hair.

I will attend to the eye shader later as it all depends on having an environment to reflect.

dude, looking okay, one small thing I noticed straight away, the lower lid needs to be a little rounder toward the edge, its very sharp looking atm, other wise all is good

so we getting vue then?

Apart from the fact I never intend to go this close, it may just be the change in colour from where the make-up ends.

Not gonna spend any more time on it now though, need to get on with other things. She isn't in any close ups that I will be rendering this year anyway so...

Vue looks cool but I unless a freelance job comes along that might benefit from it I don't think I will get it just yet. Perhaps later when the story goes in to the arctic I might need something better for the landscapes.

You going for it?

Yeah most likely. Ive got a list ready, Monitor 22-24inch(dell or Iyama), renderbox (still to choose), renderman (depending on the box) more ram, new video card and Vue

I already splashed out recently on maya, new pc and bigger wacom so I'm done for a bit. I'm gonna set up my old machine as a render slave soon and see what I can get out of it.

We've got a couple of copies of vue at uni, bloody great, but unless you really need it as a main app I reckon you could get away with cheaper options???

Well I have terragen which I will prob end up using for distant stuff, although terragen 2 does more but it's a bit of a dog to run so not sure.

The next chapter will be in London so it won't be an issue for a little while yet

Vue Xtreme works out around 400 - 450 (pounds) which is cheap in my opinion.

Ive got Terragen as well which is great . Version 2 is good, but again thats worse than snail pace for renders at the moment.

Vue on the other hand has the Xtreme version which allows your scene to be rendered in Maya using a Vue plugin. I dont mind using two different apps to create images ie terragen, maya etc, but if the two can talk to each other via a plugin, allowing for more creative freedom without worrying what camera lens you shot in one then trying to match up in another then Im for it!

Im not sure on render speed with it, though e-on claim to have increased the power in V6.5

back to the thread in hand...

Thanks arran.

Needed a little break from the girl so started making an SMG for the guards I built earlier.

Here's the basic shape of it anyway, just started.
