take out a shadow pass and then blur the hell out of it in post would be the best option. that way you can render quicker shadow maps and thus save time
Blurring in post is the quickest way, but if you want realistic shadow dispersion (where the shadow is relativly sharp close to the light source but becomes blurrier the further from the light source it gets) you need to use more rays and give the light some radius.
