Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

these guys are bending the limits of animation. they have put together something i have not seen in CG in yrs, great visuals to go with great animation( even tho most of it is MO CAP) it breaks away from the tedious Shrek, Nemo, monsters Inc paradigm i have grown accustomed to...

this keeps me wanting to learn more and more

Blimey... is that the level that FCS's are now in games? It's almost a film in its own right - on par with LOTR, The Matrix, Stars Wars and all the others.

It must have taken ages to put this little ditty together, was it done in Maya or Max?

Although the Game is from Capcom the actually animation was created by a company called robot. Cannot seem to find the website. regardless, XSI, Maya or Max it is awesome. I wish they spent just a bit more on getting some facial expressions in.

Hey Mikey do get to work on FCS's at Warthog, or do you just do the actual game stuff like modeling, animation and texturing?

I wish they spent just a bit more on getting some facial expressions in.

Guess you cannot grab facial expressions in Mocap user added image... but it I agree Roach, it would make the characters a little more believable.

It seems stange, since there is software out there that you can use for facial expressions using just a video camera on yourself and it isn't that expensive for a studio. I first saw it at 3 December the year before last, perhaps they just think it is unnecessary.

You guys might like this. Here's an old article that goes into the motion capture for the first game's movies:

Onimusha Warlords

Mike is right about Capcom using XSI. You can read the Press Release.

Anyways, it's nice to see them bringing back Samonusuke....this time he travels through time with a French guy (who is actually played by the French guy that was in the movie Godzilla....the one one with Matthew Broderick. The French guy was the one who kept complaining about American coffee and wanted the news video tape....the oni model looks like him user added image

Capcom is composed of more than just one team. I'm sure the entirity of Capcom isn't exclusively one particular program.

very true Mike

game companies have really pushed themselves above and beyond with these cinematics. Square, Capcom and Blizzard have all created memorable cinematics.

Some of the animations rival big budget movies.

i still like some of blizzard old OLD starcraft cinematics. They are by todays standard pretty bad, but 6-7 years ago when they came out. it was excellent.
