Weathered Look?

I'm trying to create an old axe. I have the thing modeled already, can I select certain faces and "add noise" to them to make them look not so clean cut? Like old weathered wood?

Thanks

I would just create a bump map that whay you can have a lot more controle over where you want the weathered parts to be and look.
