Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

March/April - Frayo - Norm

here goes another challenge user added image i'm glad to see you guys have made some really good progress. i'm still just about to start....

i'm still toying with this idea...i'm not sure if this is it already. probably just a lot of things in my head.

well, first of all i wanted to go for something that i think i could finish....something my machine could handle....something close to existent as possible. Ancient civilazations really intruige me...so this is kinda one of my favorites. but its just difficult to come up with something believable (at least from my standpoint) so this kinda leaves me on the air. so right now i'm still exploring concepts. i wanna make sure i like what i do.... user added image

for this one here, you can see massive structures (3) on top of the mountain peaks. they resemble landing pads of some sort or offering platforms.... but no one is certain. although they align perfectly with Orion constelaton...nothing in its component suggest that it was used to keep track of seasonal cycles just like the how the Stonehinge was intended to function among other things. the structure platform measures 24x24 meters. the extending isle is also 24 meters long and 12 meters wide. i'm still trying to come up with other details to cook this one out.

c&c's are all welcome and appreciated user added image

rough layout

okay, here's a rough layout....

i tried to see how it would look like in 3D...although i'm still not 100% convinced about this idea. here's a WIP though.

HAWAN

okay, i decided my concept needed some rehashing. it was too bland...that's why i couldn't settle my mind on it. so here's the new one.

i planned on doing a single structure. like most ancient civilizations...there is this one significant structure. mine is the Hawan, the platform where sacrifices, prayers, and ritualistic gatherings are done. this is a peek into the spiritual aspect of the this ancient civilization. it consists of a tepped almost circular platform bounded by 3 gigantic pylons. i'm still looking into the possiblity of putting additional structures near it...but i doubt if i'd really do that since i want to put the structure and its location into focus (by reasons of composition).

my sketches on the new structure are too crappy...so i'll just post a rendering of the study i made.
more will come.

c&c's all welcome

btw, the structure is about 60 meters in diameter and 28 meter high.
that's how a man would look like if he was standing on the platform.

Pylon Structure Design

a pylon this big will not be made of a sigle piece of stone.
here is how it will be made to stand.

circles with arrows pointing down are approximate centers of gravity.

numbers indicate pieces.

Nice!
Are you always this mechanical correct when modeling?
Because I sometimes am, and I can tell you it sometimes gets in the way of modeling.
