IK Spline Prob.

I'm in the process of making a skeleton for my character that I've created. The problem that I have is that when I'm done applying a spline IK to the back joints and begin to parent it to the hierarchy of the skeleton I lose control of the root and global control. The skeleton starts moving weird when I want to translate the WHOLE skeleton in my scene to position it for animation. My teacher say that there is a way to make it work properly but he forgot! What a guy, huh! My money at work. I'm hoping you guys can help me.
