Dragon, the answer to your question is yes. Look at any of MOTU (mark of the unicorn's) firewire interfaces like the 828 or 24 i/o or echoaudio's Layla or on the high end of things, Pro Tools (an older used sustem will still do the trick). Even with less inputs, there are always workarounds....I have an echoaudio gina stereo in/ 8-out card with an 8 channel snake going to it from my mackie 1202vlz mixer which I use for monitoring and bussing channels that I'm recording from to the two outputs going to the card.
Anyway, I'm getting carried away. In answer to your question jam, there are forums out there for quite a bit of audio software....I usually checkout the cubase and logic audio forums as that's what I use. Sound forge isn't too difficult to get a grasp on....the help files are good. I use soundforge when I'm writing song ideas...kinda of like a digital notebook.
