Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

good projects for first time maya users

I am teaching a bacics of maya class and I am looking for good beginner projects that are not too complicated for first time users dose anyone have any ideas

Swords... Split Polygon Tool, Extrude Face... just basic stuff... then some texturing...

n00bie seem to be fascinated with human heads and whatnot...
u could try a really basic head shape.
