slow playback

i`ve just batch rendered a small 13 sec animation. i had the gobal setting quite high, and it took a few hours to complete.
the trouble is , now when i play back the `avi` file , the 13 sec animation takes over one minute the play back. the size of the `avi` file is 1.95 gb.
Is there anyway of making my rendered animation play back quicker
