Substracting an object from another

I am trying to substract the intersecting part of two overlapped objects...

How do I do that?

Say two spheres are overlapped...how do I removed the polygons that stay within the intersecting parts.

THANKS!

one more thing...

I am actually trying to remove all the polygons that stay within the overlapped objects...just to leave the surface of them.

use booleans. go to polygons, booleans> difference. this subtracts the second selected from the first.
