you might want to find some images of actual hammerheads, it kinda looks like you're doing it straight off your head which is never a good idea.

Maya 6 has a nice ocean in it, just use that one, its very easy to animate waves to. you can find lots of tutorial online, I dont know if SM has one yet... hint* hint* user added image

O, in that case you want it so that when you're camera goes through the water it changes to an underwater look?

Im not too sure how to do this in Maya yet... but you can make an event that can add a blue color filter to the camera at what frame number's you want under water. should work... or ask a pro user added image

I would get a reference image to help you with the modeling.

Shark tail fins are vertical as they are not mammals - ie whales.

Well then what's the point of the work? Are you going for a good model, realistic water, photoreal textures? What? Why don't you just stick a sphere in there?

sjlocke: The point of the work is to get the shark to appear like it's swimming in the ocean, so let's keep the comments geared toward that subject and try to be more respectable. Thanks. user added image

gohan: I've got a nice tutorial on that subject that I can't find at this moment. When I do I will post it here for you. However, you may have to create two seperate scenes. One with the light as it is above the water and one with the light as it is below the water. Then, in After Effects, you'll have to composite the two and set the blend to make it appear as though the camera dips below the surface of the water.

Stay tuned. user added image
