This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.
How old was everyone when they began to learn Maya? And where has it got you today? I know every program Except 3d proggy's and start a Maya course at Alias in Toronto this winter. Just wondering where everyone is at.
I started learning Maya in early 2002 when the school I was teaching at switched over. As for 3D in general, I started working in 3D in 1994. I was 19. Today, I'm working as an animator in the game industry.
i got my hands on xsi demo when i was 21-ish... and i think i trashed it when i got it in the mail, but then i saw adds in a videogame mag that they use xsi in a lot of games... then that sort of sparked my interest in 3d. that was 2 yrs ago.
i've been using maya ever since.... and the 3d community is very small where i am, so all the support i had and trainning was mostly from forums and books.
I started about 4-5 years ago i guess with Bryce and Poser and got into it. Went to Lightwave about 2 years ago... didnt like it. And went on to lightwave last year. So i guess i started around 17,18 years old. Now im 19... so not too long now.

I started with Real 3D on Amiga 500... 1991, 15 years old. So after 13 years I should be good then... hehe.. but I have had some breaks for some years here and there, and only do this as a hobby. Started with Maya this summer, and I learnt more this summer than I learnt in the last 13 years regarding 3D. Probably cause of the excellent program and this excellent site.
I started 2 years ago (age 21) when I went to bournmouth and did the masters degree. Now working full time at framestore-cfc on my third movie (doom). Been using maya for 2 1/2 years now
I was always fascinated by special effects and CGI in movies and actually only found out which programs were used to make it about 1 year ago. I decided I wanted to learn a 3D app in the hope of maybe making my own short or two in the future so i am learning Maya from books and tutorials and have been doing it now for 6 months. I am way too old at 42 years old to have aspirations of a career in 3D, only wish that when I went to college to get my qualifications as an electrical engineer way back when, that 3D was a career choice OH to be young again ...hehe.
cool, I got the PLE last year and have been fooling with tutorials off and on. I'm real excited to start this course, getting a nice new comp for it as well.
