Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Need help with seeing objects in all views...

No idea what I did but when I load maya now there seems to be a mask over all my views.. I can just barely see the lower vorner of the grid in perspective view, everything else is covered up. If I zoom in on persp then the grid shows up. Same with anything I create, its all behind some invisible wall...

Please help! user added image

Ok messing aroiund a bit it seems to be something with the camera attribute Far Clip Plane.. it was set on 30ish and I put it at 60 and can see almost all the grid in perspective, but not the other views still...

help.. heh

Update:

Well I think I got it to work by going into all the view camera attribute editors and changing the farclipplane to 1000 which is default "I think".

If anyone sees this please reply so I know what I did isn't just a quick fix that has adverse side effects later on, thanks!

bleh just restarted maya and the grids are gone again, and the camera attributes are set back to Far Clip Plane 32.808

I never messed with this before wonder what cause it to break? :/

Update:

Ok I don't get this... Under Window>Settings/Prefferences>Preferences

Settings/Cameras my Clip planes are set at Near .100 and Far 1000.000
But these settings aren't reflected in maya unless I manually change them in the attribute editor.

This started as a newbie question, but I think its gettin technical... should/could I move this post to the right forum?

Another upate:

Fixed I hope... I reset all my far clip planes to 10000 and had the brilliant idea to save my preferences unlike before user added image
So now maya opens with the correct clip planes hehe

If I had been more patient I'm sure someone would have helped, so thanks! user added image

I would also recommend you set your Maya prefs to work in centimeters. I've personally found everything in Maya runs more smoothly when set that way. It shouldn't matter, but in my experience, it does.

If anything gets messed up, you can always reset all preferences back to default by using the menu.....

Window - Settings/preferences - preferences - edit - restore to default
